New Year, New News

February 3, 2010

A belated Happy New Year to everyone! I hope a relaxing holiday was had by all. 2010 is in full swing, and the first big piece of news is the release this week of Marcus Bonfanti's second album "What Good Am I To You?". It has received some great reviews from Mojo, Blues In Britain and The Guardian amongst others and is available for purchase from Amazon and iTunes. We recently did a live radio session for Loose Ends with Clive Anderson on BBC Radio 4. The other guests included Sir Ian McKellen, David Threlfall from Shameless and Fyfe Dangerfield of the Guillemots. Here's a shot of Marcus, myself and drummer Alex Reeves from the session...

Marcus also did an hour long session on Bob Harris' BBC Radio 2 show this past Saturday. You can here it by clicking here. We will be hitting the road this month with shows in Scotland and England, and more to come throughout the year including the Blues Stage at this year's Glastonbury!

Things are also gearing up in the Sandi Thom camp as we prepare for the release of her third album "Merchants and Thieves". The album is finished and is due for a Spring release, with a coinciding tour around the UK and Ireland in support of the record. A couple of tracks from the album feature some very special guest musicians, the first being mighty US guitar man Joe Bonamassa! We had an amazing time on tour supporting Joe at the end of 2009, and are really excited to have him as a guest on the record. The second special guest is my father, Ralph Wiber on keys. Taking a brief trip away from Western Canada he joined us on this side of the pond for bit of fun in the studio. It was truly memorable to have the opportunity to record with my Dad, it's the first time two Wibers have appeared on the same track! Here's a great shot from the session...

It's still early in the year so check beck for more news and updates! Until then...
